Abstract Art Design Tutorial

In this tutorial I will show you how to make basic Abstract art with the use of a render.

Firstly choose a render before anything else. You choose a render first so that you can figure out the colors or the size you want it to be. I picked this render.
Render – Click here to see it

After you pick the render choose the size. I picked 600×900Pixels.

Add your render. And resize and move it.

Now duplicate it and add a Gaussian Blur on the bottom layer.

Now duplicate the blurred layer twice.

It should now look something like this.

Now merge all the blurred layers.

And duplicate the background then add a Gaussian Blur save as above and Desaturate it.

Then set the layer to Multiply. But if you have a dark render change it to make it more brighter to give a contrast against the dark render.
Should look something like this.

Now merge the two layers.

Now we need to make a Gradient Map. To do so click on the half white half black circle and select Gradient Map

And set the layer to Color Dodge.

Next what we have to do is give the background more depth and feel. We can do this by using Brightness/Contrast, Curves, and Levels.
Click on the circle that’s half white and half black and go to Brightness/Contrast. Make sure it only goes over the blurred layer not the render.

Curves.

Levels.

Now duplicate your render. And desaturate it.

Then set it to Darken and it should look similar to this.

Merge the 2 render layers.

Now make a Gradient Map over the render and set it to Darken.

Then merge the two. And add the following.

Brightness/Contrast

Curves.

Levels.

Now lets start the brushing. Make a new layer between the background and render.

Find a brush pack that you want to use then do something similar to the following.

Now make a new layer above the render and add some brushing.

And you are finished.
