    Nice that Photoshop finally got this feature too!
    I have used it on GIMP and digiKam and just enjoyed it.

    This algorithm allows user to add/remove “weight” of the wanted areas. User just paints areas what she or he wants to be reserved as original or what can be scaled. So there is no need to retouch image afterwards. In this image, you could just paint the middle line to be reserved and it would stay such. Same thing for door handels and lines and they would not move. This is image carving.
